Papertrail ("we," "our," or "us") operates papertrailcards.com and the Papertrail application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, email address, and the notes and messages you create within the app. We also collect recipient contact information (names, phone numbers, and email addresses) that you choose to add. We collect payment information through Stripe, our third-party payment processor — we do not store your payment card details directly. We automatically collect certain usage data including your IP address, browser type, and how you interact with the app.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and operate the Papertrail service, deliver notes and messages to recipients you designate, process your subscription payments, send you service-related notifications, and improve the app.

Notes and Personal Content

The notes you write are private and visible only to you unless you explicitly choose to send them. We do not read, sell, or share your note content with any third party. Notes are stored securely in our database.

SMS Messaging

When you choose to send a note via SMS, the designated recipient will receive an initial message asking for their consent before any note content is delivered. Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP. Message frequency varies by user activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the app, including Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Twilio (SMS delivery), and Resend (email delivery). These providers are bound by their own privacy policies.

Data Retention

We retain your notes and account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Your Rights

You may access, update, or delete your account and data at any time through the app's settings. To request complete data deletion, email hello@papertrailcards.com.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Papertrail is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
